Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Product Development Manager (PDM) within its Advanced Solutions Group to drive innovation and mature offering portfolios by piloting and maturing new solutions for deployment across the organization.

You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify promising technologies, build business cases, test prototypes, and support GTM initiatives with the Digital Customer Success team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced technical or business training a plus.
• 5+ years in product development, project management, or R&D.
• Experience introducing and managing complex technical solutions within customer environments.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategic proposals and implement business-focused rollout plans.
• Strong familiarity with construction technologies, including IoT, AI, and sensor-based systems.
• Background in telematics and connected technologies (Bluetooth, Zigbee, LoRaWAN, GPS, cellular, access management, robotics, RFID) preferred.
• Proven success in cross-functional collaboration and team-oriented environments.
• Familiarity with United Rentals’ internal systems and regional relationships is advantageous.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel.
• Solid understanding of civil construction practices.
• Familiarity with site access, equipment access, and worker insight offerings.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Passion for innovation and a track record of delivering results through technology.
• Travel 50%, should be near major airport.

Responsibilities

• Lead product development lifecycle from concept through pilot to scale.
• Work cross-functionally with ASG and field leadership to pilot solutions.
• Collaborate with regional teams for deployment readiness and adoption.
• Coordinate with Sourcing and IT to ensure viability.
• Prototype and evaluate new technologies to refine products.
• Pilot technologies with internal teams and select customers to validate effectiveness.
• Enhance solutions based on field feedback and performance.
• Support GTM strategy and rollout plans with Customer Success.
• Act as SME and single point of contact for evolving portfolio.
• Support creation and presentation of strategic proposals, including financial analyses.
• Strengthen relationships with sales teams to deliver value.
