Job summary

FLSmidth in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Product Development Engineer for Slurry Pumps to design, develop, and improve pump products and related systems. You will create and maintain designs, assemblies, and engineering documentation, supporting new product development and sustaining engineering across the pump portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years' experience, or equivalent with 7+ years in design.
  • Experience designing industrial equipment, preferably centrifugal pumps.
  • Proficiency with CATIA for 3D modeling and drawings.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, BOMs, and engineering specifications.

  • Design, develop, and continuously improve pump products and assemblies.
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Support new product development and sustaining engineering across the pump portfolio.

Introduction At FLS, the Product Development Engineer – Slurry Pumps plays a key role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of pump products and related systems. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining designs, assemblies, and engineering documentation while supporting new product development and sustaining engineering activities across the pump portfolio. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Service teams, this role helps deliver reliable, cost-effective, and competitive pump solutions that meet customer and business requirements.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with 5+ years of relevant engineering experience OR Mechanical Design degree, Mechanical Engineering Technology degree, or related design discipline with 7+ years of relevant product design experience
  • Experience designing industrial equipment, preferably centrifugal pumps or related rotating equipment
  • Proficiency with CATIA for 3D modeling, assembly design, and engineering drawing development
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerancing practices
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations supporting product development
  • Experience providing engineering support to internal stakeholders
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required
