Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in materials science or mechanical engineering is required.
• Experience as Product Development Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer preferred, with metal processing exposure.
• Strong knowledge of processes, quality indicators, tool/fixture development, and product commercialization.
• Project management skills to define timelines and costs.
• Excellent communication and people skills, with strong analytical abilities.

Job description

Ainsley Search Group is Hiring a Product Development Engineer with experience in leading life cycle of new product development and commercialization for a Global Performance Materials Manufacturer based in greater Philadelphia. This Product Development Engineer will report to Director of Engineering, work with sales team, product manager, manufacturing, engineering to lead the life cycle of new product development from new materials development, testing, research on new tool and fixture, commercialization of machining processes, etc., troubleshoot and research root cause customer complaints, provide technical support on product application with customers, research new technologies and materials, drives improvement on production process, product application, etc.. Responsibilities:

• Report to Director of Engineering and support the new product development projects from new materials research, testing, new tool and fixture development and develop machining processes for commercialization.
• Based on customer requirements to test, develop, evaluate new materials for tolerance with different environments, work with cross functional teams to establish new materials validity, cost effectiveness, and reproduce-ability.
• Based on existing product and materials, apply data analysis on production process, quality issues, application to evaluate product validity, identify improvement opportunity to product enhancement or modify existing materials and further drive cost saving and process improvement.
• Define New Product Development project timeline, budget, oversee project progress to ensure product development project is within timeline and apply cost control, trouble bottleneck during project life cycle.
• Work closely with 3rd party suppliers and NDT testing companies on sample manufacturing, sample testing, sample approval, materials; work cross functionally with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, customers, and suppliers to ensure formulation and commercialization process.
• Support field testing on products at customer or supplier sites; provide data analysis on new product formulation to ensure application and validity.
• Work cross functionally with sales and marketing, provide technical resource on product application to sales process, provide technical manual and resource to marketing channels.
• Travel to customers as need to research, investigate, and resolve customer complaints on product, quality, and applications.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in materials science, mechanical engineering, etc.
• Recent years of tenure as Product Development Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer exposure to metal processing, machining, fabrication desired.
• Solid knowledge of technical process, quality indicators, tool and fixture development and process commercialization during product development process.
• Project management skills, able to define project scales on timeline and cost.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, strong at problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication and people skills, ability to work with different level of personnel within the organization and ability to establish rapport with customers and suppliers.
