Process Engineer
We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join a well-established and growing aerospace manufacturing company.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer to join a highly technical manufacturing environment, supporting the production of complex, precision aerospace components. The successful candidate will take ownership of manufacturing processes, support new product development, troubleshoot production issues, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Process Engineer's Responsibilities of the Role
- Take ownership of manufacturing process planning for precision aerospace components, ensuring processes meet customer drawings, specifications, quality, and production requirements.
- Develop detailed manufacturing plans, process documentation, and operation sheets for new and existing aerospace components.
- Create and modify CAD models using Siemens NX, applying GD&T principles to support accurate manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical and troubleshooting support to CNC machinists, production teams, quality engineers, inspectors, and other manufacturing personnel.
- Investigate manufacturing issues, carry out root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Review engineering, production, and inspection data to identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, workflow, and reduce scrap/rework.
- Lead the manufacturing development of new products, supporting process creation and development through first article delivery.
- Support NPI activities, ensuring new products and manufacturing processes are successfully introduced into production.
- Design and develop manufacturing fixtures, tooling, and special gaging where required.
- Work with a variety of aerospace materials, including steel, aluminum, titanium, and other specialty metals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost reduction, productivity, and process reliability.
- Work closely with production, quality, inspection, and engineering teams to ensure processes are clearly documented and effectively implemented.
- Support a strong safety culture by identifying potential hazards and contributing to corrective actions and safety improvements.
Process Engineer's Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 2+ years of Process or Manufacturing Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, particularly milling, turning, and grinding.
- Experience with Siemens NX CAD is preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and detailed customer specifications.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process development.
- Previous experience with Frozen Planning or flight-critical aerospace components is advantageous.
- Experience working with steel, aluminum, titanium, and other metals in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
