About the Role
As a Product Development Coordinator, you will support the development of Rugs or Bedding, from initial concept and sampling through production. You will work closely with Design, Production, Sourcing, and international vendors to coordinate samples, materials, specifications, costing, approvals, and development timelines.
This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented professional with an interest in home textiles who enjoys working across both the creative and technical sides of product development.
What You’ll Do
- Support product development for Rugs or Bedding from initial concept and sampling through final production.
- Coordinate development with international factories and vendors, including sample requests, material submissions, color and artwork approvals, and product revisions.
- Track samples, approvals, comments, and development status to ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Assist with developing assortments across color, pattern, material, construction, size, and price point.
- Research market trends, competitive products, retailer assortments, materials, constructions, and emerging techniques within the assigned category.
- Review samples for color, quality, construction, materials, measurements, hand feel, and overall execution, communicating comments and revisions to vendors.
- Create, update, and maintain product specifications, tech packs, BOMs, costing sheets, packaging details, and development documentation.
- Support category-specific product development details, including fabric qualities, fills, quilting, printing, embroidery, and finishing techniques for Bedding; or fibers, pile, backing, construction, edge finishes, and sizing for Rugs.
- Assist with costing, target pricing, and value engineering while maintaining product quality and design intent.
- Maintain development calendars and follow up on samples, approvals, testing, costing, and production milestones.
- Prepare and organize samples, product information, and assortment materials for internal line reviews and buyer presentations.
- Maintain accurate product records and ensure changes, approvals, and specifications are clearly communicated across internal teams and vendors.
- Collaborate closely with Design, Production, Sourcing, and Sales to help bring products to market accurately and on time.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in Product Development, Production, Merchandising, Sourcing, or a related function within home textiles, home décor, or consumer products.
- Experience with Rugs, Bedding, or related home textile products preferred.
- Understanding of the product development lifecycle, including sampling, specifications, costing, approvals, and production timelines.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to review samples, specifications, measurements, materials, and product information accurately.
- Strong eye for color, pattern, material, construction, and product quality.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple products and deadlines.
- Experience communicating with international factories, vendors, and suppliers is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop is a plus.
