Description

A leading consumer products company is seeking a Product Development and Sourcing Manager to lead the end‑to‑end development and overseas sourcing of products from concept through commercialization. With decades of industry experience, the organization focuses on innovation, value engineering, and efficient global sourcing to deliver high‑quality products to major retailers.

This role is critical in managing new product initiatives, optimizing supplier relationships, and ensuring products meet design, quality, cost, compliance, and delivery objectives. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly driven, and comfortable working with overseas factories in a fast‑paced environment.

What You’ll Do

Product Development

• Lead the full product lifecycle from concept, design, and sampling through production and launch
• Partner with sales, marketing, and operations to align product development with market needs
• Conduct market and competitive research to identify trends, materials, pricing benchmarks, and opportunities
• Develop and manage detailed product specifications including materials, dimensions, packaging, labeling, and compliance
• Oversee sample development, revisions, approvals, and pre‑production readiness

Sourcing & Supplier Management

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard overseas suppliers based on quality, cost, and capacity
• Negotiate pricing, MOQs, tooling, lead times, and commercial terms
• Maintain daily communication with overseas factories regarding development timelines and production status
• Build and manage long‑term supplier relationships to ensure performance and reliability
• Drive cost optimization initiatives including material and packaging improvements

Operations, Compliance & Quality

• Ensure products meet regulatory, safety, and testing requirements for North American markets
• Coordinate product testing, certifications, and documentation
• Monitor production quality and proactively resolve issues
• Support sustainability initiatives related to sourcing and materials

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Product Design, or related field
• Proven experience in product development and overseas sourcing within consumer products
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, quality control, and packaging
• Experience negotiating with overseas suppliers and managing vendor relationships
• Strong analytical skills, including pricing and cost management
• Excellent project management and multitasking abilities
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across cultures and time zones
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ERP systems are a plus
• Willingness to travel for factory visits, trade shows, and customer meetings
