Job summary

OpenAI’s Engineering Acceleration team seeks a senior product designer to lead end-to-end design for data-intensive tools used by engineers, researchers, and product teams. You’ll shape the learning loop from instrumentation to iteration, creating clear workflows for querying, visualization, and sharing.

Qualifications

• Lead end-to-end design for data-intensive products used by engineers, researchers, and product teams.
• Shape the complete learning loop: instrument, launch, observe, investigate, evaluate, decide, and iterate.
• Create clear, high-craft workflows for querying, filtering, comparison, drill-down, visualization, alerting, and sharing.
• Make complex concepts—including data freshness, coverage, reliability, uncertainty, experiment assignment, metric validity, rollout state, and regressions—understandable and actionable.
• Partner closely with engineering, data science, research, and product management to translate deeply technical infrastructure into elegant, coherent product experiences.
• Use prototyping, research, and rigorous design exploration to establish interaction patterns for emerging technical and AI-native workflows.
• Define shared systems and patterns that create consistency across OpenAI’s enterprise and internal tools.
• Establish a high bar for information architecture, visual hierarchy, interaction quality, and craft across complex, multi-surface products.
