Job summary

Baseten is seeking a Product Designer to shape the next generation of our platform. You’ll join a small design team with ownership and high craft standards, working across the entire Baseten product to solve hard problems for technical users.

This role covers the full arc from early exploration to production. You’ll establish patterns, evolve our design system, and raise the quality bar as we scale.

Qualifications

• Strong portfolio showing visual and interaction design.
• Experience designing complex, technical, or developer-focused products.
• Ability to translate ambiguous problems into strong solutions.
• Deep attention to typography, layout, hierarchy, interaction, and systems.
• Experience working directly with engineers and customers, without layers of process.
• Fast, prototype‑early working style that iterates from learnings.
• Ability to improve patterns and systems across a product.
• Comfort with tools like Git and VS Code; able to work with React, HTML, CSS, JS or TS.
• Strong product and design judgment on when to ship.

Responsibilities

• Lead product design end to end, including research, definition, prototypes, reviews, specs, and implementation.
• Collaborate with engineering and product to frame problems and ship solutions.
• Work with customers to understand workflows, validate ideas, and test prototypes.
• Raise visual and interaction quality across Baseten surfaces.
• Create interactions that make complex workflows feel clear and fast.
• Evolve the design system and establish scalable patterns.
• Look for opportunities to improve consistency and quality across the product.
• Collaborate with engineers to polish UI and ensure shipped experience matches design.
• Help shape how the design team works and raise the bar for product quality.
