Job summary

HP IQ is seeking a Product Design Engineer to bridge creativity, engineering, and design for innovative consumer devices. You will collaborate with industrial designers, hardware engineers, and interaction designers to turn ideas into prototypes and production-ready designs.

You will work on 3D CAD modeling, prototyping, engineering analysis, and design validation to solve mechanical challenges and drive concepts toward production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Product Design Engineering, or related field.
• Experience using 3D CAD software (NX preferred) to design mechanical components and assemblies.
• Hands-on experience building, prototyping, and testing mechanical designs.
• Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to open-ended design challenges.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and present work effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary product development environment.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts, components, and assemblies for new consumer devices using 3D CAD (NX).
• Create detailed 2D engineering drawings, define specs and tolerances, and work with overseas vendor partners to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Design and run experiments, applying engineering analysis and test results to guide design decisions.
• Evaluate materials, manufacturing processes, and design tradeoffs to develop robust and scalable solutions.
• Work cross-functionally with hardware, software, industrial design, and other engineering teams to bring concepts from ideation through development.
• Conceptualize, design, and build prototypes that quickly validate ideas.
• Participate in design reviews, communicating design decisions and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.
