Job summary

Kennametal is seeking an Engineer Product Design to join the Wear Components Engineering group in New Albany, IN. You will work with customers to define product requirements, develop specifications, and support manufacturing through new product introductions.

You will lead product development projects through Kennametal's stage-gate process, drive process improvements, and provide technical support to sales, customers, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
• Machining experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across multiple organizational levels and locations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer focus with the ability to support both internal and external customers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and project management software such as Microsoft Project.
• Experience with SAP, NX, and Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
• Willingness to travel as required to support job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Understand product requirements with customers and develop agreed-upon product specifications.
• Document product specifications, manufacturing processes, and verification requirements.
• Support manufacturing teams to ensure products are produced efficiently and meet customer expectations.
• Manage assigned products and lead new product development projects through Kennametal's stage-gate process.
• Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance quality, productivity, and operational performance.
• Provide technical support to sales, customers, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Prepare quotations for pump components supporting both domestic and international sales.
• Coordinate manufacturing readiness activities to ensure successful new product launches.
• Collaborate with the Bangalore engineering team to provide technical guidance on product design and process requirements.
• Travel as needed to support customers, suppliers, and business objectives.
