Job summary

KENT Outdoors is seeking a design engineer to build the design engineering function from the ground up. You’ll partner with Industrial Design, Marketing, Product Management, Sales and Operations to take products from ideation through CAD development, prototyping, testing, and scale-up for launch.

You’ll collaborate with overseas factories to ensure products are engineered for performance, durability, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing, scaling, and launching new consumer goods from concept to production.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software for product design and engineering documentation.
• Hands-on prototyping and performance/durability testing experience.
• Strong knowledge of DFMA principles.
• Experience collaborating with overseas factories and manufacturing partners.
• Excellent communication and project management in fast-paced cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Translate consumer insights into new product concepts across BOTE’s portfolio.
• Sketch, model, and iterate concepts from early ideation to production-ready designs.
• Create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D CAD models from concept to production.
• Develop GD&T drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
• Apply DFMA/DFA to optimize cost, quality, and manufacturability.
• Coordinate prototypes and performance tests for validation.
• Collaborate with overseas factories to guide production scaling.
• Manage design revisions and document engineering changes.
