Job summary

DocuSign is seeking an experienced product lawyer to own the regulatory thesis for its regulated verticals, guiding Product, Engineering, and Product Legal on when a vertical regulation drives a launch. You will decide upfront what a regulator will accept and translate it into actionable requirements for design and roadmap.

This role reports to the Senior Director & Deputy General Counsel - Product Engineering, IP and Partner and serves as the depth the team relies on for real-world

Qualifications

• Law degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience.
• Experience advising product and engineering teams directly in a regulated technology environment.
• Experience translating regulatory requirements into product and engineering requirements that shipped.
• Experience in at least one regulated vertical: health and life sciences, financial services, or payments.

Responsibilities

• Own the verticals thesis and requirements.
• Define regulatory defensibility for the agreement record in Real Estate, Health and Life Sciences, and Financial Services.
• Translate regulatory depth into product and engineering requirements at design/roadmap stage.
• Be the subject matter expert for Product legal and own vertical regulatory depth.
• Build reusable positions, answer library, and interpretation guidance on frequent questions.
• Keep commitments and assess deliverability of compliance in product, defining compensating controls.
