Job summary

IonQ, Inc. is seeking an Associate General Counsel - Product to partner with product, research, engineering, and go-to-market teams from the earliest stages of development. You will shape product-related legal strategy, negotiate complex partnerships, and manage regulatory and IP matters in a rapidly evolving quantum tech environment.

The role blends product and transactional work and offers remote, hybrid, or onsite options within the US. A J.D.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar (or eligibility for in-house status)
8+ years of relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house department
Experience advising on strategic partnerships for tech products US and abroad
Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and close complex technology transactions with business impact
Versatility to move between product and transactional matters and to grow in new areas
Willingness to advise amidst ambiguity and to work where tech is evolving
Desire to leverage AI tools to improve team speed and outcomes
In-house experience with a mature US technology company

Responsibilities

Partner with product teams to align legal strategy with product development from inception
Support global legal affairs including IP, corporate matters, regulatory compliance, and risk management
Draft, negotiate, and close technology transactions with direct business impact
Advise on partnerships, licensing, and post-acquisition integration as needed
