Job summary

MoonPay seeks a Product Counsel to act as the dedicated legal partner for its expanding DeFi and regulated asset services. You will align product features with US and international regulatory requirements while supporting engineering and compliance teams, ensuring fast delivery without compromising compliance.

The role requires deep DeFi understanding, a JD and active bar admission, and experience guiding product lifecycles from ideation through launch.

Qualifications

JD (or equivalent) and active bar membership in at least one jurisdiction.
6+ years of legal experience, including meaningful in‑house experience at a crypto, DeFi, fintech, or regulated financial services company.
Deep, working understanding of DeFi: DEX, AMMs, non‑custodial wallets, MPC, smart contracts.
Solid grounding in US regulatory frameworks: FinCEN, SEC, CFTC, NYDFS requirements.
Experience providing product lifecycle legal advice to engineering and product teams.
Strong communication for practical legal advice in ambiguous areas.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary legal partner for DeFi product teams from ideation to launch and iteration.
Advise on legal/regulatory characterisation of DEX routing, smart order routing, and aggregation across chains.
Provide coverage for non‑custodial wallet products, including MPC key management and user flows.
Advise on AI agent and autonomous payment integrations and regulatory landscape for AI‑driven services.
Support launch of digital asset services by regulated MoonPay entities in various markets.
