Job summary

MoonPay is looking for a Product Counsel to be the dedicated legal partner for MoonPay's expanding product suite, covering DeFi product teams and regulated crypto asset services. You will work closely with product, compliance, and regulatory strategy to advise on new features from whiteboard to launch, balancing fast delivery with compliance across both decentralized protocols and licensed entities.

This role requires genuine fluency across both worlds, delivering well-reasoned, risk-calibrated

Qualifications

• JD (or equivalent) and active bar membership in at least one jurisdiction.
• 6+ years of legal experience, including meaningful in-house experience at a crypto, DeFi, fintech, or regulated financial services company.
• Deep understanding of DeFi: DEXs, AMMs, smart order routing, non-custodial wallets, MPC key management.
• Solid grounding in US regulatory frameworks: FinCEN money transmission, MSB analysis, SEC, CFTC, NYDFS.
• Experience providing product lifecycle legal advice to engineering and product teams.
• Excellent communications skills and ability to simplify complex regulatory concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provide product lifecycle legal counselling from ideation through launch and iteration.
• Advise on legal/regulatory characterization of DEX routing, smart order routing, and cross-chain features across jurisdictions.
• Provide coverage for non-custodial wallet products, including MPC key management architecture and user flows.
• Advise on AI agent and autonomous payment integrations and evolving regulatory landscape.
• Provide product legal support for digital asset services within licensed entities across markets.
