Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing and assembly activities across machining, welding, forming, and QA. You will drive DFx reviews, improve product definitions, and reduce cycle times while ensuring adherence to aerospace standards.

You will guide DFMA/PFMEA efforts, support cost analyses, and participate in Make/Buy/Where/When decisions, contributing to efficient production across Blue Origin facilities.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of aerospace manufacturing and assembly engineering experience.
  • Experience across machining, welding, fabrication, inspection, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing techniques (VT, PT, UT, X-ray, etc).
  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Ability to read 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
  • Experience with DFx/DFMA, PFMEA and Non-Conformance analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead DFMA, PFMEA and non-conformance analyses to optimize build sequences and layouts.
  • Provide design for manufacturability reviews to improve quality and reduce cost, cycle time and lead time.
  • Support Make/Buy/Where/When and vertical integration analyses.
  • Develop and deliver DFMA-related training and guidance to teams.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on capability assessments and sourcing.

This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.We are seeking a highly experienced Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in all aspects of aerospace manufacturing, including machining, welding, metal forming, assembly, and quality control. This role requires a deep understanding of aerospace standards and regulations, manufacturing and assembly operations, and interpretation of engineering product definition. This role is critical in driving down costs while emphasizing DFx.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide design for manufacturability review and make recommendations to improve quality while simplifying operations and reducing cost, cycle time, and lead time.Support cost analysis activities, supplier capability assessments and supplier sourcingLead DFMA, PFMEA and Non-Conformance analysis at part, assembly, and system level to improve build sequence, manufacturing processes and layout developmentSupport Make/Buy/Where/When and Vertical Integration analysisDevelop and provide DFM and similar types of trainingMinimum Qualifications:10+ years of relevant engineering experience in the aerospace manufacturing and assembly field, with time spent across machining, welding, fabrication, inspection, and assemblyFamiliarity with common Non-Destructive Test, including visual, dye penetrant, ultrasound, x-ray, CT scan, eddy current, etc.Project management skills and strong coordination to track, manage, and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks.Experience with manufacturing fabrication and assembly processes, work order creation/management, BOM structures, and quality control.Working knowledge of common aerospace and/or military standardsExperienced interpreting 3D CAD models and 2D/3D engineering drawings.Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the product lifecycle.Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.Strong written, personal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the executive leadership level and on the shop floor.Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with internal and external customers.Preferred Qualifications:10+ years of engineering experience with metallic, composite, various additive materials, welded joints, bolted joints, machined partsLean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma processes and implementation.Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred)Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)Working knowledge of welding standards (AWS D17.1)Working knowledge of Rigging Hardware (ASME 30.26)Base Pay Range for:WA applicants is $112,059.00 - $156,882.60Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
