Job summary

Blue Origin LLC's Honeybee Robotics in Colorado seeks technically minded engineers to support the Motion Control Business Unit. You will plan, design, and fabricate electrical assemblies for aerospace systems, assist with production processes, and troubleshoot non-conformances in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include root cause analysis, contributing to design for manufacture improvements, and generating manufacturing work instructions and control plans.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in a related engineering field.
  • 2+ years of experience with complex electrical aerospace or space hardware.
  • Experience with fabrication and testing of electrical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with NASA/IPC standards and DFMA principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support to production and troubleshooting teams.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

From actuators and gearboxes to motors, motor controllers, and precision motion control systems, our products operate in the harshest environments, enabling critical missions from Earth to deep space. Our Manufacturing Engineering Department plays a critical role in ensuring every component and system meets the rigorous standards required for mission success.As part of a hardworking team of technicians and engineers, you will apply standard engineering knowledge and methods to plan, design, and execute fabrication for a varied portfolio of electrical assemblies for aerospace systems and components. You will support the development and implementation of production processes, work instructions, and associated ground support equipment (GSE) to efficiently produce a varied portfolio of electronic hardware. This role is a combination of operations development, including planning and documentation development, supporting hands-on production, and troubleshooting/investigating non-conformances.Special Mentions:Relocation providedTravel expected up to 5%Shift: Monday–Friday (5/8 schedule)Interviews will include a technical assessmentGeneral Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide hands-on support to the technician team to support prompt resolution of issues in a fast-paced production environmentSupport troubleshooting and disposition of non-conforming (NC) avionics hardware, software, firmware, and electrical systems through detailed work instructionsAssist in the isolation, containment, and resolution of NC parts and assembliesParticipate in root cause analysis (RCA) and root cause corrective actions (RC/CA) to help prevent recurrence of manufacturing and hardware issuesSupport design and operational gated reviews by contributing to required technical artifacts and readiness assessmentsCollaborate with design engineering to assist in implementing Engineering Change Requests (CRs) that improve manufacturability and reduce non-conformancesPartner with design teams during the development cycle to support Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) improvements prior to design releaseGenerate manufacturing work instructions, production routings, and control plansMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field or equivalent experience2+ years of experience with complex electrical aerospace or space hardwareExperience operating, diagnosing, and dispositioning non-conforming electrical hardware, harnesses, software, and/or firmwareElectrical assembly experience including:SMT and PTH component installCable, Crimp, and Harness assemblyPCBA Rework/RepairComponent bonding/stakingIn-process PCBA testing utilizing power supplies, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, network analyzers, etc.PCBA Cleanliness Verification and Conformal CoatingFamiliarity with industry standards such as NASA-STD-8339.1, NASA-STD-8739.4, IPC-A-600/610/620, IPC-7711/7721, J-STD-001 with Space Addendum, and DO-254Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (SolidWorks or Creo Pro/E preferred)Familiarity with DFMA principles in design developmentStrong communication, organization, and project management skills with ability to manage multiple prioritiesHands-on mindset with strong attention to detail and ownership of workAbility to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment and adapt to new challengesMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumDesired Qualifications:3+ years of experience with aerospace or space electrical systemsExperience troubleshooting high-reliability, safety-critical electronicsExperience with automating PCBA testing and PCBA assembly (component placement, conformal coating, etc.)Base Pay Range for:CO applicants is $84,198.00 - $117,876.15Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
