Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Seattle, WA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead industrialization of new products and optimize manufacturing processes for aerospace hardware. The role requires 8+ years in manufacturing engineering, a BS in engineering, and capability to work second shift. Relocation and travel up to 10% may be required to support programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role.
  • U.S. citizenship or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawful status to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed.

This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.We are seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team at Blue Origin. This role will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics specific to Production/Operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, skilled in resource management, and committed to high-quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines. Leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies, you will contribute to improving manufacturing techniques, ensuring Blue Origin’s continued innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering.Position Specific Details:Shifts: A | Mon-Fri (6am-2:30pm)Location: Seattle, WARelocation: AvailablePotential travel up to 10% of the time for training and other support activities.Key Responsibilities:Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.Gain expertise in at least one key specialty area (solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, structures, etc.), with the desire to deepen expertise and broaden impact.Team Focus & Domain ExpertiseThe Lunar Operations Core Components Manufacturing Engineering team drives the successful development and production of critical lunar hardware.
