Job summary

BinMaster Sensors & Technologies in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Product Compliance Engineer to lead certification and compliance efforts for intrinsically safe devices. You will research applicable standards (UL, CSA, FM, NEC, IEC, ATEX) during design and support audits and certification projects to influence the engineering process.

This on-site role requires a 4-year degree, a strong bias for meticulous documentation, and hands-on experience with ISO 9001 and hazardous location requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience interpreting UL, CSA, FM, NEC, IEC and ATEX standards.
• BSEE or MSEE or equivalent experience.
• ISO 9001 and continuous improvement experience.

Responsibilities

• Research regulatory codes during design for electrical and hazardous locations.
• Support audits and certification projects.
• Organize and maintain compliance records by product types.
• Organize compliance program including test laboratories and equipment.
• Assist with ROHS, REACH, IMDS and Substances of Concern regs.
• Audit ISO documents and advise on improvements.

Reports To: Director of Engineering, BinMaster Sensors & Technologies

YOUR ROLE:

You will be on point for all things related to product certification and compliance. From researching the applicable electrical and hazardous location standards during the design process, to supporting audits and certification projects, you will be a critical piece with substantial influence on the engineering process.

WHAT WE WILL ASK YOU TO DO:

• Ability to understand and interpret regulatory codes such as issued by UL, CSA, FM, NEC, IEC and ATEX
• Understand Hazardous Locations concepts, protection methods and regulatory standards
• Drive product compliance for new and existing products through evaluation and testing with our Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance departments
• Organize and maintain compliance records by product types from internal testing and reports, NRTLs and other third parties
• Organize compliance program by preparing cost estimates, timetables, resource requirements including test laboratories and equipment
• Assist in management, supply chain, and vendor compliance program related to ROHS, REACH, IMDS, and various Substances of Concern regulations
• Maintain standards lists by tracking and understanding pending changes to standards and regulatory directives
• Maintenance of controlled documents related to ISO
• Offer suggestions to streamline our controlled ISO documents
• Include ISO principles when auditing with our Quality Manager or Consultants
• Performs other related duties as assigned

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TABLE:

• Experience or extreme interest in interpreting standards by UL, CSA, FM, NEC, IEC and ATEX
• BSEE or MSEE or equivalent experience
• Experience in mechanical and electrical systems
• Importance and pride in being extremely organized
• Manage concurrent projects while maintaining a high level of productivity to complete projects on time
• ISO 9001 &/or continuous improvement experience
