Job summary

Meta is seeking a Data Engineer to shape data across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Reality Labs, and Threads. You will design scalable data models, build data artifacts, and create visualizations to address business questions for billions of users and numerous products.

You will collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to craft data solutions, refine logging, and ensure data quality and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience working with data.
• 7+ years of experience with SQL, ETL, data modeling and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, C#, Scala or others.)

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and own data architecture for multiple large-scale projects; evaluate tradeoffs.
• Create frameworks to improve logging data; work with data infrastructure to triage issues.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and visualize insights.
• Define and manage SLAs for all data sets in ownership.
• Determine and implement security models; ensure safeguards; address data quality and governance.
• Design, build and launch data models and visualizations for multiple use cases across products.
• Solve data integration problems using ETL patterns and diverse data sources.
• Own and optimize existing production processes and code.
• Improve pipelines, dashboards, and systems to ease data artifact development.
• Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities and drive impact.
• Mentor team members with actionable feedback.
