Job summary

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. is seeking a seasoned news line producer to shape coverage and produce assigned newscasts. You will write stories, teasers, and headlines and work with anchors, reporters, writers and editors to ensure accurate content.

You will attend editorial meetings, pitch ideas, stay informed on current affairs, and support logistics, proofreading, and future segment planning. A strong social media presence is valued to promote content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field is desired.
• Minimum 3 years relevant line producing experience in working newsroom.

Job description

Daily production of a quality news product as defined by the FOX 5/KUSI brands. Accuracy, excellence in production techniques, writing, story treatment, relevance to the viewing audience, and ability to generate ratings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Produce and booth assigned newscast and shape overall coverage
• Write news stories, teases and headlines
• Collaborate with team of anchors, reporters, writers and editors to ensure production of accurate, updated and engaging news content
• Attend editorial meetings and pitch/vet story ideas
• Stay informed on current affairs
• Assist reporters and managers with logistics and proofreading scripts
• Plan future segments and book day turn newsmakers as content dictates
• Contribute to CTV content, news specials and the website
• Maintain strong, professional social media presence and use it to find and promote content
• Additional duties as necessary

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field is desired.
• Minimum 3 years relevant line producing experience in working newsroom.

• Compensation – Starting at $29/hrcommensurate with experience and skill level
