Job summary

Erewhon Market in Los Angeles is seeking a Produce Department Manager to lead daily operations, coach staff, and ensure top-quality produce. You will implement merchandising plans, manage inventories, and maintain freshness and profitability.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of Produce/Grocery management experience and a proactive approach to customer service. This role offers room for career growth and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Produce/Grocery management.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferable, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to inquiries and complaints.
• Manage department inventories by tracking weekly sales and ordering products to meet customer requirements and gross profit goals.
• Develop and implement localized merchandising plans and set up displays for seasonal items.
• Ensure accurate ordering to prevent losses from spoilage and manage scheduling and training of Produce Department staff.
• Control department expenses by improving operations and reducing losses from shrinkage and pilferage.

What You Will Do:

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers, and responding to customer inquiries and complaints; lead by example.
• Manage department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports and orders product and supplies so as to meet customer requirements and the company's gross profit goals.
• Develop and implement localized merchandising plan for the department, set up and create displays for new and seasonal items.
• Ensure accurate and timely ordering to prevent losses that result from produce that spoils before it can be sold.
• Schedule Produce Department employees, oversee and assist with their training, reward and recognize their performance and delegate their work assignments so as to most effectively.
• Control department expenses by improving operations and efficiencies, by controlling labor costs and by reducing losses due to shrinkage and pilferage.
• Keep updated on special produce needs that arise for holidays, as well as trends in cooking and recipes that affect consumer demand.
• Follow established departmental procedures for receiving merchandise including inspecting the product when delivered, pricing the product and restocking cases to insure freshness and quality, accuracy and product rotation.
• Maintain effective housekeeping program.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring:
