Job summary

Erewhon Market is hiring for a Lead role in Grocery Retail. The position focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, leading by example, and ensuring smooth front-end operations in a fast-paced health and wellness environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of lead experience in grocery or customer service, with English and Spanish proficiency preferred. This on-site role offers growth opportunities and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ years of experience as a Lead in Grocery Retail or Customer Service.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferable, but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers, and responding to inquiries and complaints; lead by example.
• Perform opening/closing procedures including auditing safety, equipment checks, and setup of daily schedules and audit sheets.
• Count, balance and secure cash drawer, safe, and cashier registers; manage pick-ups and loans.
• Stay updated on holiday merchandising needs and market trends in Healthy/Grocery industry.
• Drive membership sales and promotions; inspire team to meet sales goals.
• Educate customers about Erewhon mission and standards; perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Assist Front End Manager with scheduling, time-off requests, and weekly recaps.
• Enforce policies when Front End Manager is not present.
• Assist MODs with customer concerns as requested.
• Hold coaching conversations with team members as needed.

What You Will Do

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers, and responding to customer inquiries and complaints; lead by example.
• Ensures that all opening and closing procedures are performed. Procedures include but are not limited to: auditing safe; assuring equipment is in good, working order; stocking check stand area with bags, register receipt tape, etc.; setting up individual daily schedules, setting up all audit sheets.
• Responsible for accurate counting, balancing and securing of change drawer, safe, assigned cash register and “pick-ups” & “loans” to cashier’s registers.
• Keep updated on special cashier and merchandise needs that arise for holidays, as well as market trends in Healthy / Grocery industry.
• Drive membership sales and other promotions or non‑profit donation drives. Inspire team to meet daily or monthly sales goals.
• Be an educator and brand expert, speak on the Erewhon mission and standards for excellence. Other related duties as assigned by upper management.
• Assist the Front End Manager with administrative tasks such as scheduling, requests for time off, and weekly recaps.
• Enforce policies when Front End Manager is not present.
• Assisting MOD’s with customer concerns when requested
• Hold Coaching Conversations with team members as needed.

What You Will Bring
