Job Summary: Produce clerks are responsible for ensuring the produce department is well-stocked for our customers. They must assist in receiving, storing, and stocking products while guaranteeing proper product rotation and quality. Familiarity with store products and their locations is essential to assist customers effectively. As a PFM team member, they should exemplify Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Provide all guests with exceptional customer service.
2. Ensure all service standards are met and often exceed company expectations.
3. Handle and stock produce products effectively, with proper rotation and quality monitoring.
4. Build product displays, handle damages and credits according to company policy.
5. Complete all stocking and clean-up duties efficiently and timely.
6. Assist with store operations such as cleaning or hanging signs as needed.
7. Assist in back-stock and ensure the timely return of all items.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications

1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of experience in grocery or retail environment.
2. Valid and up-to-date Food Handler’s Certificate.
3. Knowledge of department functions.

Other Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

1. Exceptional customer service skills.
2. Effective communication skills with customers, staff, and management.
3. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently or in groups.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

1. Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and push/pull up to 100 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
2. Work in coolers and freezers with frequent temperature changes.
3. Handle high-stress situations with customers and staff.
4. Work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
5. Reliable transportation required.
