Qualifications

• Ability to read and write to tag merchandise, order and rotate stock.

• Experience as a produce clerk preferred (2+ years).
• Excellent oral and written communication with customers, employees and vendors.
• Dexterity for trimming and packaging produce.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all functions of the Produce Department to meet sales and profit goals.
• Follow merchandising plans for produce, floral and cut fruit/veg areas.
• Order merchandise, control inventory, reduce out-of-stocks and overstocks.
• Maintain cleanliness, rotate product and protect quality.
• Train, schedule and supervise department staff.
• Ensure sanitation, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare weekly schedules based on projected sales and workload.
• Promote a friendly, clean and attractive department image.
• Communicate with store leadership and other departments.
• Maintain required records and reports.
• Monitor local conditions and competitive activity in produce and floral areas.
