Qualifications

• Minimum high school education required.
• Ability to read and write to tag merchandise and manage inventory.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret reports and keep the department profitable.
• Two years’ experience as a produce clerk.
• Excellent oral and written communication with customers, employees, and vendors.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all functions of the Produce Department to meet sales and profit goals.
• Follow merchandising plans for space management based on movement, season, and demand.
• Order merchandise and control inventory to minimize out-of-stocks and overstocks and maximize sales.
• Receive product, price mark, and restock to ensure quality and accurate rotation.
• Control department expenses by maintaining organized storage.
• Prevent shrinkage and pilferage using movement reports.
• Train, schedule, and supervise department personnel.
• Maintain sanitation and safety compliance for cases and equipment.
• Create a friendly, clean department image and customer experience.
• Maintain records and communicate with store and organization.
• Observe local conditions and competitive activity in produce and floral areas.
