Job summary

Kj’s Market is seeking a Produces Department Lead to drive sales, manage inventory, and supervise staff in a fast-paced environment. You will ensure accurate pricing, proper display, and adherence to safety standards while delivering excellent guest service.

Responsibilities include scheduling, training, and performance coaching, plus collaborating with management to meet company goals and maintain smooth store operations at all times.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of produce operations and safety practices.
• Ability to supervise staff including training and development.
• Strong communication and guest service skills.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
• Physical stamina to bend, kneel and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly sales program to attain maximum sales volume.
• Achieve budgeted gross profit figures as set by Produce Merchandising.
• Prepare all produce records for Accounting & Merchandising.
• Follow policies for weighing, pricing, packaging, and display.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintain coolers and freezers to standard.
• Inventory control responsibilities.
• Enforce sanitation, safe food handling, and safety guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain positive guest relations.
• Consult with Store Manager on meat operations, planning and scheduling.
• Schedule the department and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Guide staff performance, provide feedback, and develop talent pipelines.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly company sales program to attain maximum sales volume.
• Achieve budgeted gross profit figures as established by Produce Merchandising Department.
• Carry out the preparation of all produce records as required by the Accounting & Merchandising Departments.
• Follow all company policies related to weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying of merchandise.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintains coolers and freezers to standard.
• Accountable for inventory control.
• Reinforce sanitation, safe food handling practices, security, safety, and company guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain good guest relations.
• Consult with Store Manager to review meat operations, and advanced planning and scheduling, to ensure company objectives are met.
• Responsible for scheduling of the department.
• Ensures the department is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits).
• Ensures direct reports understand expectations for performance, holds them accountable to achieve productivity goals and meets with them to review performance and provide feedback (ongoing and annual performance appraisal).
• Personally responsible for teaching and training departmental staff. Additionally, builds a talent planning bench for the department, including developing and executing development plans for all high-potential and promotable individuals.
• All other tasks as assigned by management.
