Job summary

IGA Southeast in Sumter, SC is seeking a Produce Department team member to support daily operations and guest service. You will assist in weighing, pricing, displaying, and stocking produce while ensuring quality and safety standards.

The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Weekly pay and benefits are provided, with opportunities for growth within the family-owned company.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly sales program to maximize produce volume.
• Meet budgeted gross profit figures set by Produce Merchandising.
• Prepare all produce records per Accounting & Merchandising requirements.
• Follow policies on weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying merchandise.
• Unload trucks and manage backroom storage.
• Maintain coolers and freezers to standard.
• Control inventory and stock levels.
• Uphold sanitation, safety, and company guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain positive guest relations.
• Consult with Store Manager on meat operations and scheduling.
• Schedule department and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Communicate expectations to direct reports and conduct performance reviews.
• Teach and train departmental staff and develop high-potential employees.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

1. 1. Follow weekly company sales program to attain maximumsales volume.
2. 2. Achieve budgeted gross profit figures as established by Produce Merchandising Department.
3. 3. Carry out the preparation of all produce records as required by the Accounting & Merchandising Departments.
4. 4. Follow all company policies related to weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying of merchandise.
5. 5. Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
6. 6. Maintains coolers and freezers to standard.
7. 7. Accountable for inventory control.
8. 8. Reinforce sanitation, safe food handling practices, security, safety, and company guidelines.
9. 9. Assist guests and maintain good guest relations.
10. 10. Consult with Store Manager to review meat operations, and advanced planning and scheduling, to ensure company objectives are met.
11. 11. Responsible for scheduling of the department.
12. 12. Ensures the department is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits).
13. 13. Ensures direct reports understand expectations for performance, holds them accountable to achieve productivity goals and meets with them to review performance and provide feedback (ongoing and annual performance appraisal).
14. 14. Personally responsible for teaching and training departmental staff. Additionally, builds a talent planning bench for the department, including developing and executing development plans for all high-potential and promotable individuals.
15. 15. All other tasks as assigned by management.
