Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Inc. is seeking a Produce Lead to supervise daily produce distribution and lead produce volunteer shifts under the guidance of the RD and Operations Manager.

You will assess new perishable items, determine distribution quantities, and ensure quality, safety, and efficient operations. The role requires effective communication with staff, volunteers, and pantry visitors, physical stamina to lift 20–30 pounds, and flexibility to adapt to changing donation volumes and

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fresh produce, freshness indicators, and food safety basics.
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff, volunteers, and clients.
• Ability to train and delegate duties to volunteers.

Responsabilités

• Assess and inventory daily perishable produce as it arrives.
• Determine amounts of items for each distribution with RD/Operations Manager.
• Oversee produce volunteer shifts and ensure quality and freshness.
• Sort produce, pack bags with diverse fruits/vegetables, and portion as needed.
• Repackage large quantities, label items, and store according to safety protocols.
• Dispose unusable food and maintain clean workspace; restock supplies.
• Explain FIFO practices and organize dairy/deli items by date.
• Distribute excess items to partner organizations and supervise related volunteers.
