Job summary

US Foods in Garland, TX is seeking a Produce Inspector to work Sunday-Thursday 10:30am-7:00pm. You will inspect inbound perishable loads, verify PO quantities, check temperatures, and ensure SOP adherence across receiving, storage and shipping to protect product quality.

Responsibilities include daily quality checks, damage reporting, and collaboration with buyers and warehouse management. Strong communication and physical stamina required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year Produce experience (Foodservice, Retail, Grower/Shipper) or similar.
  • Must be able to operate electric pallet jack.
  • Must work well without close supervision.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Team-player – flexible and willing to learn new things.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate daily with the buyers and warehouse manager on all issues related to perishable items.
  • Inspect and verify Purchase Order quantities for all inbound perishable loads.
  • Inspect all inbound trucks for signs of pest and rodents before unloading.
  • Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to receiving, storage, and shipping.
  • Document temperatures of all inbound loads and report violations.
  • Perform daily quality inspections for all perishable items.
  • Pull orders for special customers to guarantee exceptional quality.
  • Audit shipping department SOPs and cold-chain practices.
