Job summary

Food Lion in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a Produce Clerk to provide quality customer service in the Produce Department. You will maintain standards per the standard practice manual, maximizing sales through excellent customer service and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.

Responsibilities include stocking, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying merchandise; complying with food safety guidelines; and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality customer service within the Produce Department and follow standard practices.
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Courteous and helpful to other associates.
• Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise per guidelines.
• Unload trucks for the Produce Department.
• Understand and use company tools such as ACIS and CAO.
• Maintain understanding of and adherence to company guidelines and safety procedures.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions and report accidents.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron and name badge.
• Complete Computer Based Training (CBT) and related courses.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
