Duties

• Stocking and Displaying Produce: Replenishing shelves and displays with fresh fruits and vegetables, arranging them aesthetically, and rotating stock to ensure freshness. Cut and package fruit and vegetables for sale.
• Inspecting produce: Checking for signs of spoilage or damage, removing substandard items, and ensuring all products meet safety and quality standards.
• Transporting produce: Using wet rack to move produce from backroom to sales floor.
• Customer service: Greeting customers, offering samples, providing recommendations, and assisting with locating items.
• Preparing food: Making fresh salad bags.
• Cleaning: Maintaining backroom cleanliness and taking out garbage.
• Safety checks: Monitoring for spills/trip hazards, sweeping/mopping 2-3 times daily as needed.
• Inventory management: Monitoring stock levels, placing orders, receiving deliveries, verifying incoming quality.
• Compliance: Adhering to health and safety standards, maintaining cleanliness, and proper handling of equipment and products.

Requirements, Skills And Experience

• 1-3 years of customer service experience in a busy grocery or similar environment (preferred).
• Ability to work well in a diverse, dynamic team.
• Ability to safely operate standard produce department equipment.
• Knowledge of produce, quality control, costs, and related techniques.
• Follow safety rules and actively prevent accidents.
• Flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., stand, bend, reach, twist for up to 4 hours.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
