Job summary

Bi-Rite Market is seeking a Produce Clerk to create inspiring experiences for our guests. You will provide outstanding service in the Produce + Floral departments, help maintain beautiful displays, and ensure stock and labeling accuracy while supporting store goals.

Six months of retail/food service experience is recommended; ServSafe Certification and California Food Handler Card must be obtained within 30 days post-hire.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes guests and provides assistance in the Produce + Floral departments.
• Creates displays and keeps displays neat, labeled, and well-stocked.
• Receives, organizes and stocks merchandise on sales floor, cases, backstock and receiving areas.
• Rotates inventory, handles perishable items safely, restocks high-volume products.
• Maintains department cleanliness and proper labeling; supports team with tasks.

OPPORTUNITY

We have an immediate opening for a Produce Clerk. The Produce Clerk is responsible for creating an inspiring experience for our guests. They give outstanding service by meeting and exceeding our guests’ expectations and providing excellent internal service to the team. Their responsibilities include assisting in the smooth and seamless operations of the business, reaching store goals, upholding product quality and consistency standards, controlling inventory levels and mitigating waste, maintaining equipment and facilities, and safely handling all of our products and equipment. They are part of a cohesive Bi-Rite team that supports the Bi-Rite Missions, Vision, and Community Values.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcomes guests, provides expertise and assistance in the Produce + Floral departments.
• Creates beautiful and bountiful displays. Keeps the department displays neat, clean, accurately labeled, and well-stocked.
• Receives, organizes and stocks all merchandise on the salesfloor, the refrigerated cases, backstock, and receiving areas.
• Puts away inventory, paying close attention to proper rotation, handling perishable items safely, and restocking high-volume products quickly.
• Keeps the business running smoothly by keeping the department clean by dusting and sweeping as needed, and maintaining displays.
• Handles damaged, out-of-date, spoils, and returned products to department standards.
