Join to apply for the Produce Associate Team Leader (Assistant Department Manager) role at Whole Foods Market.

Assists the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned. Leads and develops Team Members. Ensures a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. Performs duties in accordance with store SOPs and supports WFM core values and initiatives, including health and safety regulations such as Food Safety.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains creative store layout and product merchandising.
  • Works with Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
  • Assists in sales, reports, and labor analysis.
  • Demonstrates advanced product knowledge and stays updated on new products.
  • Maintains vendor relationships and ensures proper paperwork submission.
  • Resolves team concerns or issues in collaboration with the Team Leader.
  • Acts as point person and in charge in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Sets and maintains high standards of retail execution.
  • Encourages a positive environment of teamwork, respect, and morale.
  • Monitors customer flow and needs, directing Team Members accordingly.
  • Trains, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members to sustain high performance and reduce turnover.
  • Provides performance evaluations and models WFM vision and goals.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour shift.
  • Use of hands for grasping, manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and temperature variations.
  • Work in wet and cold environments; flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Use of tools and heavy machinery.
