Job summary

Hy-Vee in Sioux Falls is seeking a Produce Clerk to provide prompt, friendly customer service in the Produce Department and handle food safely while keeping the area clean and organized. You will monitor product freshness and assist customers with finding items.

This role emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and a professional appearance, with duties ranging from greeting customers to restocking, assisting in other areas, and maintaining sanitation standards across shifts.

Qualifications

• Less than high school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible.
• Assists customers by escorting them to the products they're looking for, securing products that are out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
• Performs other tasks to enhance the shopping experience and answers phones promptly, offering friendly service.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Maintains proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is clean and neat, and reviews product freshness.
• Reviews the status and appearance of the merchandise for freshness and replenishes as needed.
