Job summary

Core & Main is seeking a Procurement specialist to manage purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. You will evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine the best suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective procurement.

The role involves reviewing queues, coordinating orders, and maintaining purchasing parameters within an inventory system, with a focus on optimizing cost and service levels across customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in related discipline; Certification may be required in some areas; generally 0–2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of computer-based inventory management systems is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass pre-employment assessments if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Review procurement queue and analyze items for potential purchases.
• Ensure material is placed on order and follow up with vendors, sales and customers on delivery, specifications, and pricing.
• Coordinate flow of material from vendor to customer in a timely fashion.
• Follow up on order changes, cancellations, returns and related fees.
• Evaluate daily purchasing reports and prioritize purchase orders to maximize profit and sales.
• Maintain product line purchasing parameters to ensure daily reports are accurate.
• Initiate and verify price changes in the computer inventory system.
• Monitor open orders and update projected delivery dates.
