Responsibilities

• Maintain safety stock, reorder points, and purchasing parameters.
• Monitor open POs and resolve shortages, late deliveries, and long-lead items.

• Establish cycle-count and physical inventory programs.
• Provide visibility into material constraints and recovery plans to operations leadership.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Quality on changes and qualifications.

Back Procurement/Materials Manager
Supply Chain Charlotte , North Carolina Professional Direct Hire Sep 2, 2026 HTI is seeking an experienced Procurement/Materials Manager with an established industrial manufacturer in the Charlotte, NC. This position will lead purchasing, supplier performance, material planning, inventory control, and production readiness in a complex manufacturing environment. This position is Direct Hire and the salary range is $100,000 - $110,000 / year.

What You Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field; MBA preferred
• Purchasing and materials management experience in a manufacturing environment
• Hands-on ownership of procurement, material planning, and inventory—not transactional purchasing alone
• ERP/MRP experience, including purchase orders, supplier data, lead times, reorder points, and inventory controls
• Ability to work from production schedules, work orders, BOMs, and engineering documentation
• Strong supplier management, negotiation, analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills

What Your Role Will Look Like:

The Procurement/Materials Manager will connect purchasing decisions, supplier performance, inventory accuracy, and production schedules to ensure critical materials are available when needed. This role requires a proactive leader who can anticipate risk, independently manage priorities, and provide clear status and recovery plans to operations leadership.

• Develop and execute procurement and materials strategies aligned with production requirements, customer commitments, and business goals
• Plan material requirements against work orders, BOMs, production schedules, supplier lead times, and required onsite dates
• Maintain appropriate safety stock, reorder points, minimum/maximum levels, and purchasing parameters based on demand and lead time
• Monitor open purchase orders and proactively resolve shortages, late deliveries, long-lead items, aged orders, and other risks to production
• Evaluate and develop suppliers based on quality, delivery, responsiveness, pricing, capacity, payment terms, and total cost of ownership
• Lead supplier negotiations, performance reviews, corrective actions, escalation, and contingency planning for critical or single-source materials
• Establish effective cycle-count and physical-inventory programs and address excess, obsolete, damaged, returned, or slow-moving inventory
• Participate in production meetings and provide clear visibility into material constraints, supplier risks, expected delivery dates, and recovery plans
• Partner with Engineering and Quality on new products, engineering changes, supplier changes, substitutions, and material qualification
• Develop reports and dashboards, strengthen purchasing controls, train team members, and continuously improve procurement and materials processes
• Additional duties as needed and assigned
