Job summary

Scotts Miracle-Gro is seeking a seasoned procurement leader to design and drive sourcing for flexible packaging, manage supplier networks, and partner with R&D, Marketing, and Quality to deliver cost savings and sustainable supply.

This full-time role in Marysville, OH requires 4+ years in procurement, strong negotiation, SAP experience, and the ability to coordinate across plants and contract manufacturers. Domestic and international travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 4+ years in procurement, sourcing, or purchasing.
• Experience coordinating material requirements across plants and contract manufacturers.
• Experience sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts for targeted materials.
• Ability to navigate a regulated industry.
• Knowledge of R&D/vendor language and Brand/Purchasing terms.
• Strong SAP/SAP-PLM and MS Office skills.
• Some international purchasing experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate with multiple departments.
• CPG or retail experience a plus.

• Develop disruption mapping and mitigation strategies.
• Foster and maintain supplier relationships.
• Lead supplier selection and development with cross-functional teams.
• Develop innovative products across Scotts Miracle-Gro brands.
• Ensure sustainability guidelines are followed and actions implemented.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, costs, risks, and partnerships.
• Develop and grow one remote direct report.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree focused in Supply Chain Management, Packaging, Procurement, Accounting/Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
• Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 4 years of experience within Procurement, Sourcing, or Purchasing
• Ability to coordinate numerous material requirements for multiple plants and contract manufacturing facilities simultaneously
• Experience sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts for targeted materials
• Ability to effectively navigate a regulated industry
• Knowledge of technical R&D and vendor language and Brand and Purchasing business language
• Strong computer skills, including SAP, SAP/PLM, and Microsoft Office
• Some international purchasing experience or responsibilities preferred
• Ability to communicate with multiple departments
• Consumer Products or Retail experience a plus
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
