Job summary

West Fraser is seeking a highly motivated procurement manager to oversee log purchasing, quality programs, and cost control for the sawmill. The role emphasizes self-direction, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to meet budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities include forecasting, seasonal inventory management, and mentoring the team. The position requires a forestry- or related degree with substantial forestry experience, and compliance with safety and drug screening policies.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Forestry, Agriculture Science, Wood Products, Supply Chain/Logistics, or Business with 3+ years experience or 7 years forestry experience.
• Safety oriented and able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Timely purchase and delivery of logs for the sawmill.
• Manage log quality program and overall delivered log costs.
• Oversee woodyard operations and budgeting.
• Forecasting, analysis and seasonal inventory management.

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed, results-oriented, Procurement Manager to join our TEAM.

Responsibilities

• Timely purchase and delivery of logs for respective Sawmill.
• Manage log quality program
• Manage the overall cost of delivered logs in line with the local market.
• Woodyard operations
• Budget preparation
• Forecasting and Analysis
• Seasonal inventory management
• Daily problem solving
• Team building
• Timely communication to stakeholders.
• Mentoring and Coaching
• Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Four (4) year degree in Forestry, Agriculture Science, Wood Products, Supply Chain/Logistics, or Business with 3-years experience or a minimum of 7 years experience in Forestry.
• Safety Oriented
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check

This is a safety sensitive position under Arkansas State law.

Preferred skills

• 2 years of transactional negotiation experience
• Familiar with SFI requirements and state best management practices
• Experience with mapping software such as ARC MAP
