Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District is seeking a Procurement Supervisor in Columbus, NE or York, NE to oversee procurement specialists and buyers, ensuring adherence to policies and improving total cost of ownership.

The role reports to the Procurement Manager and requires strong analytical, leadership, and supplier-management capabilities, with experience in contracts, bidding, and compliance with state statutes governing public utilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related area with five years of professional level experience in procurement, supplier management, and contracts.
• Associate's degree in business or related program with ten years of professional level experience in procurement, supplier development, and contract administration.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
• Experience with SAP, procurement for nuclear facilities or similar, and knowledge of state statute requirements regarding procurement for public utilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and oversee procurement tasks including document development, sourcing, bidding, negotiating, contract administration, and supplier performance.
• Plan, prepare, assign, report, and monitor Purchasing Contracts staff work assignments and performance management.
• Develop staff in purchasing, contracts, negotiations, and accounts payable; establish succession planning.
• Influence site management through site visits and participation in site meetings.
• Ensure compliance with District policies and procedures and continuous process improvement in procurement.
