Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking a Purchaser Planner I to support the Virginia Imaging Systems Group with inventory planning, purchasing, forecasting, and cost-reduction initiatives. You will coordinate with operations, engineering, and overseas offices to optimize lead times and product availability.

Minimum 1 year in a similar role is required; strong Excel and ERP system experience is essential. The role emphasizes data-driven purchasing, reporting, and collaboration in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role.
• Strong inventory planning and forecasting knowledge.
• Experience with ERP systems and BOMs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and data reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory control and forecasting (safety stock).
• Handle daily purchasing, expediting, and data management.
• Lead cost-reduction and process-improvement initiatives.
• Generate reports as required.
• Review orders and lead times; ensure product availability.
