Collins is seeking a Procurement Forester to manage timber and log supply for our Chester sawmill operations. You will evaluate timber, negotiate purchases with private landowners and brokers, and coordinate harvesting schedules to ensure steady deliveries and market competitiveness.

The role requires forestry knowledge, strong business sense, and ability to travel to timber sales and supplier locations in California, Oregon, and surrounding areas. Salary ranges with strong benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in forestry or natural resources.
• Experience in timber cruising, procurement, or forest operations.
• Experience purchasing timber for a sawmill and timber contracts.
• California Registered Professional Forester license encouraged within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Identify timber procurement opportunities from landowners, timberland owners, and brokers.
• Maintain a pipeline of current and future timber opportunities.
• Develop relationships with landowners and timber suppliers.
• Evaluate timber sale opportunities and provide purchase recommendations.
• Negotiate timber prices and terms within company authority.
• Purchase stumpage and delivered logs per procurement strategy.
• Maintain timber supply to support mill production.
• Monitor timber markets, pricing, and demand.
• Prepare timber valuation analyses including cruising and inventories.
• Coordinate harvest schedules with contractors and operations.
• Ensure logs meet mill specifications with yard and sawmill staff.
• Maintain supplier and contractor network.
• Assist in timber purchase agreements.
