Job summary

Baillie Lumber Co. seeks a Procurement Forester / Log Buyer to manage log sourcing and procurement activities. The role requires daily travel to logging sites and timber sales, interfacing with suppliers, and coordinating trucking and data entry to our systems.

Candidates should have a forestry background with at least two years in a forestry-related setting and some experience in buying logs or timber. A two-year technical or four-year forest products degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of forestry-related experience required.
• Some experience buying logs or timber preferred.
• Willingness to travel daily to logging sites and timber sales.
• Proficient with basic computer programs (email, Excel, Word).
• Adherence to safety policies is essential.

Responsibilities

• Scale and grade logs and trees.
• Use handheld data collectors to scale logs.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships.
• Coordinate trucking and logistics for timber movement.
• Administer timber sales and upload scale data to the computer.
