Job description

Position Purpose: Subject matter expert and senior member of the Procurement Contract team with tasks that include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts and related actions (amendments, terminations, other notices) with third-party vendors for various spend categories (IT, Health Operations, Enterprise & Professional Services). Manage different types of agreements, such as master service agreements (MSA), business associate agreements (BAA), delegated services agreements, statements of work (SOW), nondisclosure agreements (NDA), service level agreements (SLA), software license agreements, and other third-party contracts, including government flow-down requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Acts as a senior-level contract specialist, providing mentorship and training to junior contract specialists.
  2. Supports leadership with process improvements to enhance departmental skills, processes, tools, and resources.
  3. Reviews, drafts, and negotiates contracts for enterprise-wide and local vendors, ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and sourcing strategies.
  4. Acts as a second-level reviewer for contracts managed by junior staff.
  5. Maintains accurate records of all contract-related documents, updates contract management systems, and documents approvals.
  6. Identifies procedural gaps and leads projects to address them.
  7. Ensures contracts are executed in compliance with approval, compliance, and security policies; assesses risks and recommends mitigation strategies.
  8. Addresses and resolves vendor contract questions or issues promptly.
  9. Collaborates with Legal, Compliance, Business SMEs, Category Management, and other departments to interpret contract provisions and strategy requirements.
  10. Provides excellent customer service throughout the contracting process, responding promptly to inquiries, updating stakeholders, and maintaining professionalism.
  11. Supports peers with complex issues and performs other duties as assigned.
  12. Adheres to all policies and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in contracting, procurement, legal, or vendor management.
  • Extensive experience reviewing complex legal and commercial terms, identifying risks, and recommending mitigations.
  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement processes including solicitation, awarding, contracting, and onboarding vendors.

Preferred Skills:

  • Microsoft Word proficiency.
  • Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management applications.
  • Familiarity with Coupa, ServiceNow, SharePoint.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range: $68,700 - $123,700 annually. Centene offers comprehensive benefits including competitive pay, health insurance, 401K, stock plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, holidays, and flexible work arrangements (remote, hybrid, field, or office).
