About the Agency:
The Mississippi Department of Transportation is responsible for providing a safe intermodal transportation network that is planned, designed, constructed, and maintained in an effective, cost-efficient, and environmentally sensitive manner.
About the Position:
This is advanced-level vocational procurement work which involves purchasing materials, supplies, services, and equipment; maintaining and anticipating inventory usage and securing supplies; and interviewing vendors and state agency representatives to resolve purchasing matters. Incumbents work with purchasing orders, invoices, requisitions, and vouchers. Work also involves the direction and analysis of contract proposals and/or negotiations or the review and analysis of procurement information submitted by state agencies. The work may include responsibility for investigating current market prices and trends and the planning and administration of purchasing/contracts programs. Incumbents may also assist state agencies by initiating recommendations and procedures. Incumbents receive general supervision from a higher-level Analyst or other supervisor/manager.
