Job summary

Brodart Co. is seeking a Production spend position to support material handling and assembly on the production line. Duties include unloading, reloading, and operating station tasks such as pocketer, sizer, inserter and gluer to meet customer orders.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, good eyesight, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Overtime may be scheduled based on production needs, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Unload materials in preparation for processing and reload upon completion.
• Pocketer: glue kits into books according to process codes.
• Sizer: measure books with a ruler and select plastic jackets.
• Inserter: insert dust cover into jackets; apply protection tapes on spine labels.
• Gluer: glue or tape jackets onto books per process codes.
• Biller: handle paperwork and verify book quality.
• Maintain safe, clean, organized work areas; follow Brodart rules and standards.
• Stand for 8 hours; lift 35 lbs and up to 50 lbs; operate in varied temperatures and noisy/dusty environments.

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Production, this position provides for the efficient processing of materials as may be required to satisfy customer orders. Responsible to unload materials in preparation for processing and to re-load materials upon completion.Performs the following functions as assigned as part of the processing of materials along a production line:Pocketer - Glues kits into books according to process codes.Sizer - Measures each book with a ruler and pulls a plastic jacket to fit each book.Inserter - Inserts dust cover into a plastic jacket, books without dust cover get protection tapes over the spine labels.Gluer - Glues or tapes jackets onto books according to process codes.Biller - Takes care of paperwork and checks the books for quality.Responsible to perform other duties of equal or lesser classification irrespective of required change in department, hours (including mandatory overtime) or work conditions as directed by supervisor.Responsible for regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.Maintain safe, clean and organized work areas.Cross training and substitution of tasks that may be of higher classification as required by supervision.High school diploma or equivalent.Finger dexterity and ability to measure and read a ruler.Ability to read and follow written or verbal instructions, accurately count and have good eyesight.Flexible to make appropriate decisions regarding safety in handling materials and respond to changing work environments.Ability to work/communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers and to adhere to Brodart rules, policies and standards of conduct.Must be able to work in a production environment that may be subject to varied temperatures and other conditions, such as noise (conveyor), dust and glue or adhesives.Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hour shifts and possess the ability to frequently bend and lift 35 lbs and up to 50 lbs occasionally and push book trucks weighing several hundred pounds.This position is subject to scheduled overtime which may be required based on production needs.EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYERBrodart Co. is an Equal Opportunity Employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
