Job summary

Brodart Co. is seeking a Material Handler III to manage buffer area flow, transfer materials, and stage orders for shipping. The role requires handling diverse material handling tasks, ensuring safe operations, and using the Book Order Control System to track order status.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and be capable of working in a production environment with potential overtime and temperature variations. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage the buffer area flow, material transfers in totes to trucks, and staging in buffer area.
• Release completed orders to takeaway conveyor and resolve problems.
• Enter information into computer systems (SCS and Oracle) for order fulfillment; investigate discrepancies and mis-routings.

Job description

Responsible for the management of the Buffer area to include:Flow of materials held in buffer and overcrowding.Transfer of materials in totes to trucks and staging in buffer area.Release of completed orders to take-away conveyor.Problem resolution.Recording of book order status transactions and use of Book Order Control System to obtain and update book order information.Responsible to enter information into computer system as necessary for order fulfillment in SCS and Oracle.Works with co-workers to resolve issues related to overages, shortages and mis-routings.Performs investigations based on Oracle and SCS (conveyor) information.May be the point of contact for special handling requests.Responsible to perform other duties of equal or lesser classification irrespective of required change in department, hours (including mandatory overtime) or work conditions as directed by supervisor.Responsible for regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.Maintain safe, clean and organized work areas, emptying trash cans and barrels and sweeping of floors, as needed.High School diploma or equivalent and a relevant amount of experience as a Material Handler III or equivalent experience.Capable of performing at an advanced proficiency level of competence within production standards of efficiency and skill of Material Handler III.PC Proficiency and familiarity with Book Order Control System.Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.Flexible to make appropriate decisions regarding safety in handling materials and responsive to changing work environments.Ability to work/communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers and to adhere to Brodart rules, policies and standards of conduct.Must be able to work in a production environment that may be subject to varied temperatures and other conditions, such as noise (conveyor) and dust.Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hour shifts and possess the ability to frequently bend and lift 40 lbs and up to 70 lbs occasionally and push book trucks weighing several hundred pounds.Required to float throughout the work area and move from zone to zone as workload requires.EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYERBrodart Co. is an Equal Opportunity Employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
