Job Summary

Process Tech 2 is responsible for supporting the injection molding department's operational goals. The primary responsibilities include start-up of all down machines when ready, attending and actively participating in tech meetings, housekeeping, checking process parameters while ensuring all alarms are active, submitting first pieces to the Quality Lab, completing material changes, and setting scales. The Process Tech 2 provides troubleshooting support to the production group to resolve issues and acts as a liaison between Production and the Process Engineering department.

Essential Functions

• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and recommending solutions for processing issues.
• Starting up presses after changes (mold changes, conversions, material changes, etc.), rehangs, repairs, mold cleans, or other reasons.
• Working with the Industrial Engineering team to ensure proper documentation regarding process sheets and deviations.
• Maintaining housekeeping (including purge, scrap parts, etc.) and proper storage of equipment and supplies.

Other Functions

• Performing other duties as assigned.
• Attending and successfully completing forklift training.
• Evaluating current processing conditions and recommending improvements.
• Developing procedures for production duties as reference or training materials.
• Preparing for internal and external audits.
• Supporting certifications by adhering to corporate policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Key Competencies

• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication across all organizational levels.
• Minimum of three years as Process Technician preferred.
• Detail-oriented.
• Interest in advanced injection molding education (e.g., WCTC Apprenticeship, Paulson Training, RJG).
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Strong computer skills.
• Extensive knowledge of scientific injection molding principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of DOE principles and techniques.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years experience as a Process Technician preferred.
• Excellent mechanical skills.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. and stand/walk for up to 12 hours.
• Knowledge of SPC principles.
• Ability to read and interpret documents.
• Prior shipping experience (6 months).
• Prior forklift experience preferred.
