Job summary

Tandem Foods is seeking a Production Processing Lead to manage all functions of the Production Process on the assigned line. You will direct processing staff, coordinate breaks, ensure adherence to formulas and specs, and uphold safety, GMP, and food safety standards across shifts.

The role requires strong leadership, focus on quality, and collaboration with maintenance and other departments to optimize line performance and downtime management.

Job description

The Production Processing Lead manages all functions of the Production Process on the assigned line, including processing employees, ingredient prep; scaling and mixing; depositing and forming; baking/slab forming; enrobing; cooling; cutting/slitting; and ensuring a quality product delivered to the Packaging Area.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Leads and directs the team in the processing area.
• Monitors and coordinates breaks, provides relief as needed.
• Manages the production activities in the process area to ensure compliance with formulas and specs to produce the highest quality products.
• Reviews the Labor Schedule for the assigned line, assuring Trained People are assigned the appropriate job functions, and all employees have the proper tools required to complete their tasks.
• Actively monitors and enforces all Plant Safety, GMP’s and Food Safety rules; takes corrective action where necessary; involves all levels of the organization in these activities.
• Works with Production Supervisors and other managers to comply with all mandatory training for employees under their supervision.
• Communicates regularly with the Shift Supervisor all issues on the floor, keeping him/her abreast of potential problems.
• Assures all paperwork and necessary documentation is filled out legibly and properly filed on time with the appropriate parties.
• Coordinates and communicates with the other Leads and processing employees, following up where needed from the prior shift and passing along information to the following shift.
• Uses the systems in place to monitor the attendance of his/her employees; directs any issues to the Shift Supervisor.
• Ensures a solid working relationship with maintenance, warehouse, and gatekeepers. Works as a team to plan and coordinate scheduled downtime, changeovers, and startups. Informs the Manager of any issues on his/her shift.
• Monitors condition of the line/equipment. May make minor adjustments and assist maintenance on repairs. Writes workorders and requests maintenance support.
• Continuous Improvement – The production lead is responsible for improving the efficiencies of the lines by partnering with the team, solving problems, and leveraging other plant resources when needed.
• Standard work – works with the team to develop, refine/improve and audit that employees are working in the way that we want them to (following procedures, OPL’s, etc.).
