Processing Operator Trainee
Location: Boardman, OR
Time type: Full time
Job Description Summary: The processing operator operates and adjusts all process equipment for smooth and productive operations; monitors line flow and waste; corrects problems which affect quality and production costs; and makes line changes as directed by the production lead or team leader.
Responsibilities
- Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.
- Changes water knives as needed.
- Performs waste evaluations and changes grader screens as needed.
- Operates equipment and makes adjustments as needed.
- Maintains even line flow.
- Monitors and maintains product quality and attributes.
- Communicates with other personnel regarding line status, quality, and other problems.
- Understands function and hazards of various cleaning chemicals and performs various product testing procedures.
- Works independently.
- Shovels product spills.
- Completes production forms as required.
- Enters checks into the computer.
Other Job Functions
- Sanitation of area.
- Breaking of other areas.
- Performs weekend cleanup as assigned.
- Participates in AMD drumbeats.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- Lock‑out/Tag‑out, Forklift, and Sanitation certification required; unqualified candidates will be trained to meet certification requirements.
- Experience driving forklift in warehouse or manufacturing establishment (preferred).
- Must be able to achieve certification within the time frames established by the facility.
Skills and Experience
- Effectively communicates in English verbally and in writing.
- Understands instructions and follows directions in English, both written and oral.
- Performs basic math functions.
- Basic computer operation knowledge and data entry skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Exposure to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold temperatures.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments up to 8 hours per day: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells, and allergies.
- Ability to perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements required by job actions and procedures.
- Works with hands and arms overhead, and in or under equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work at ground level and in high places.
- Ability to operate work‑related equipment.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposed to temperatures ranging from −20°F to 35°F in freezer operation and 37°F to 90°F in plant operation.
- May sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products.
- Climbs to various heights via stairs or ladders regularly.
